Spurs – Highlights of the Week (Jan 1-5)

You win some and you lose some. It’s been an interesting week for the San Antonio. Our beloved Spurs matched off against the Atlanta Hawks, the Toronto Raptors and the Denver Nuggets. With 2 wins and 1 lose, I’d say we win most, and lose…. occasionally.

Date: Sunday, January 1st

Opponent: Atlanta Hawks

Top Performers: Points Lamarcus Aldridge, Rebounds – Lamarcus Aldridge, Assists – Dennis Schroder

This marks San Antonio’s third loss in 19 games played on the road. It was a tough match, with the Spurs slipping by two points in overtime with a final score of 114-112. Tony Parkers helped lead the team with 22 points. Pau Gasol also supported the Spurs, scoring 18 points! Kawhi Leonard misses a last second jump shot in overtime. Even though this marked an end of a 4 game winning streak, we don’t have to worry. We know the Spurs have still got it!

Date: Tuesday, January 3rd

Opponent: Toronto Raptors

Top Performers: Points – DeMar DeRozan, Rebounds – Jakob Poeltl, Assists – Tony Parker

The Raptors dribbled the ball right out of Dejounte Murray’s hand as he heads down court in attempt to dunk the ball. However, Dejounte Murray was not having this! He proceeds to pack the ball right out the net. That’s what we call defense!

Date: Thursday, January 5th

Opponent: Denver Nuggets

Top Performers: Points – Lamarcus Aldridge, Rebounds – Pau Gasol, Assists – Tony Parker

Aldridge leads his team to victory in this game with 28 points! However, top scorers Kawhi Leonard with 24 points and Tony Parker with 21 points follow closely behind.  We all know how aggressive the defense of Kawhi Leonard is, but  is it so aggressive that even his own teammates don’t stand a chance? We’re talking about the moment during the third quarter, where Kawhi Leonard stole the ball from his own teammate to make a bucket. Well, hey, at least it was for a good cause. In one of the best plays of the night, Reid fired the ball to Tony Parker as Parker effortless shot a shiny gold bucket into the net. The ICY three pointer by Manu Ginobili. The left handed dunk by Kawhi Leonard, just beautiful!
