The Western Conference Cometh

With the coming Western Conference and The San Antonio Spurs position within the Interdivisional at hand, there are the tried and true players: in Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobli and Tony Parker. Along with this, The Spurs have gained two new fresh faces for their 2014-2015 roster: Jonathan Simmons and Boban Marjanovic.

Spurs Player
Jonathan Calvin Simmons, who was signed on with The Spurs on July 22, 2015 after helping the Spurs win the San Antonio Spurs Summer League team in Las Vegas, was born September 4, 1989 in Houston, Texas. Having gained many recognitions for his efforts in college, he declared in his senior season he would join the 2012 NBA draft. However, it was not until January 2013 he was drafted in the American Basketball League with the Sugar Land Legends, and then in September of the same year with the Austin Toros/ Spurs. Since signing on with the San Antonio Spurs, Simmons has worked on and off the roster between both the San Antonio and Austin Spurs.

As for Boban “Bobi” Marjanovic, born August 15, 1988 in Zaječar, Serbia, he signed on with the San Antonio Spurs July 17. 2015 for a one year contract. A distinguished player of the Serbian League whom has won the gold medals at the 2007 FIBA Under-19 World Championship and the 2008 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, Marjanovic has not disappointed with his debut with The Spurs on October 30, where he helped the team by recording 6 points and 5 rebounds in the 102-75 win against the Brooklyn Nets.

At the San Antonio AT&T Center this coming December 11, 2015, the San Antonio Spurs and their new teammates will be taking on their long-time Western Conference rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers. This rivalry, which has gone on since the 1990s, has been the driving force for years between both teams as they have faced off numerous times in the Championships; The Spurs having won the NBA Championships in 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2014, and thThe Lakers in  2000-02, 2009 and 2010. With as intense as this rivalry is, and with The Spurs having previously won the last NBA Championships to make this their fifth Championship in total, both teams are tied for wins. So this year, whom may reign supreme? Will The Spurs leave The Lakers in the dust, or will The Lakers swamp the Spurs? Only time will tell.
